GETTING TO KNOW JESUS AND EACH OTHER
At NCYM…
we seek Jesus. We explore who Jesus is and what it means to have an authentic, vibrant relationship with Him, one that affects every part of our lives and gives us purpose.
we are gifted and going for it. God made us uniquely and with great purpose. As web root ourselves in our identity in Christ, we explore our unique make up and gifting and bring God’s Kingdom to earth! We serve the church family, our community and beyond.
we answer the question, “Who’s next?” We grow in experiencing Jesus and become more like Him as we hear His voice. And we get to come alongside our friends in their journeys toward Jesus!
we live open-handed. We live lives of adventurous dependence! We recognize God is in charge and pursue His desires and are willing to live creatively - you’ll see lots of change in our pursuits as we follow Jesus!
When do we meet?
Next Chapter Thursdays
We hang out, eat food and pursue Jesus together - come and bring your friends! We meet around the back of the building in Room 108. 7-9pm
Who Can Come? Any 6th–12th grade student no matter where you go to school. You don’t even have to attend MC to come. In fact, you don’t have to believe in God! This is an awesome place to come and explore your faith no matter where you are on your journey. We encourage our students to bring their friends from all walks of life.
Next Chapter Sundays
Students worship with their families and have tons of opportunities to serve the church family by joining our various volunteer teams.
NCYM is at Lite Bites! 10:30-11 between services
This is a time where our students hang out and get to know new kids. Mariemont Church serves Lite Bites in between services on Sunday mornings. Join us at the NCYM Lite Bites Table - meet our students, find out more info and get a fun gift!
Next Chapter and beyond!
Building community outside of the church is super important - and FUN! We go on camp outs, have game nights, do fun things around the city, engage in service projects and go on missions trips.
Casa Hogar Mama Paulita (CHMP): Cuidad Mante, Mexico
Mariemont Church is committed to fully funding any student going on our mission trips! We are ministry partners with CHMP, an organization that serves homeless children, aiming to give them a bright future. Trips are expected to occur yearly over the Christmas break.
What We Believe About Students
Did you know that the first youth pastor in the Christian church may have been Jesus. What a lot of people don’t know about Jesus’ original 12 disciples, is that it’s quite possible 11 of the 12 of them were teenagers, or at least younger than 20 based on the absence of paying the temple tax mentioned in Matthew 17.
The fact that they were following a Rabbi and Jesus’ reference to them as “little ones” or “little children” in Matthew 11, Luke 10, and John 13 supports that they were young.
The main point we draw from this is that there is no “junior Holy Spirit.” The Father is happy to use anyone who makes themselves available for Kingdom works - even a youth.
So when we look at our students, we see disciples of Jesus with gifting, power, authority, and purpose as legitimate as any disciple of Jesus.
What are our meetings like?
We meet in the 3rd floor youth room and spend some time hanging out, getting to know new people and each other better, playing games, and eating snacks until we begin a group game.
After the group game, we listen to a speaker, and then break into middle school and high school small groups with a staff member.
Many times in these small groups students will encourage, listen to, and pray for each other.
We have students from the tristate area who attend public, private, and home-schools. We also have some wonderful adult leaders who love Jesus, love students, and have a desire to see students walk more deeply and intentionally with Jesus.
