Sean Wikoff
Custodian
Hi I’m Sean Wikoff the custodian at MC. I’ve been part of the team since 2015. I’m a competitive board and card game enthusiast. I play a little piano and am overall a pretty mild guy.
We all get together on Sundays to worship God. We do this in many ways. We sing songs to God which is a lot like prayers set to music. We share stories or testimonies of God’s love and power. We teach using the Bible as our authority, and from time to time remember the sacrifice Christ made for us through Communion. Our building is handicap accessible.
Most people think the Church is the building. That’s an accident of history and translation. When Jesus used the word He meant “people called out”—that is, people called out of normal life to follow Him in an extraordinary adventure.
Jesus. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God - that we can follow Him and be like Him.
Holy Spirit. We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit and that He plays an active role in our everyday life.
The Bible. We believe the Bible is God’s authoritative letter to us, teaching us to live a life worth living now and forever.
Surrender. Jesus gave up His life for us, therefore we should give up our life for Him.
Spiritual Growth. Growing spiritually is a part of our church life. This means we take steps daily toward spiritual maturity.
Shepherding. Every family has a shepherd to give care and coaching.
Intimacy. We believe prayer and worship are the foundation of our intimacy and relationship with a Father who loves us.
Discipleship. We believe everyone needs Jesus and work to share His love, grace, and gift of salvation with the people we come in contact with. This means discipling. We strive to be disciples making disciples that know how to make disciples.
Community. We believe in community and do not go it alone. Jesus insists on one another-ing. (Yes, that’s a word now.)
Serving. We believe in laying down our lives. This looks like serving our family, friends, and those in need.
Kingdom. We believe in a global commission and investing in Kingdom efforts around the world by praying, giving, and going.

I began attending MC in July of 2011, where I have experienced exponential growth as a man, husband, and father. Back in 2012-2013, I co-led 2 different Story Formed Life small groups. Laura and I have led a few other small groups in the years since, including a DMM study with a neighbor, pre-Covid. We have also engaged in some family-oriented events, like a version of a church picnic, and started and led Family Camp. I regularly volunteer to run the soundboard for Sunday worship services and am an occasional volunteer for children’s Sunday School.
I married Laura in December 2011. We now have 4 sons: Luke, Levi, Liam, and Lincoln. In 2020, at the dinner table, we were reading the story of Nicodemus’ interaction with Jesus, Luke accepted Christ for the first time and was baptized about 2 months later. What a gift! Laura and I have been especially blessed to have been built into by some really incredible spirit-led leaders. We look forward to many more years of this, as well as having more opportunities to disciple others in the Lord.
In the Fall of 2015, I attended a teaching one night at MC, and although I had never been here before, I knew the Spirit was calling my family. We started attending and in 2016 began to lead an MCC NKY Small Group where the Lord has kept us in an incubator of prayer and worship ever since. We also had the opportunity to help start the Family Camp at MC. In this church family we have learned to confess, repent, and worship the Lord in a richer way than ever before. Our eyes have been open to the greater spiritual world increasing our vision and discernment into the Kingdom and the battles they present the church. I have learned the Spirit wants to move and speak, and we are learning how to position ourselves to allow His will to be done. Under the leadership at MCC, I have learned that the Lord’s journey in our lives is a continual loving process of relinquishing our will, renewing our minds, and healing our hearts so that we can conform to Christ and reach Abba’s sons & daughters. I am filled with the anticipation and hope of His relentless pursuits.
Royce Baker and his wife, Liz, have been attending Mariemont Church since 2009, when they moved to Cincinnati to help relaunch the local campus ministry with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ). He and Liz have been married since 2005, are each from central Ohio and both attended the University of Toledo, where they heard the call into full-time college ministry with Cru, with whom they have served for the past 18 years. Royce serves with Cru as a Mobilization Director while Liz continues to serve on local campuses reaching college students. Royce and Liz have four children: Annelise, Maribelle, Abbott, and Genevieve. Royce has had the joy of serving MC through facilitating small groups and leading worship regularly on Sunday mornings. Royce loves all Ohio sports teams (especially the Buckeyes), running half marathons, history, epic books & movies, world traveling.

Hi there! My name is Katie Smith and I get the awesome privilege of serving our church as the Director of Kingdom Kids Children’s Ministry. I love facilitating a true experience of Jesus - our kids pray for one another, practice hearing from God and learn about their mission to bring the Kingdom of God to those around them! I also love bringing families together to develop deep, life-giving community.
I have worked as the Director of the After-School Program at CHCA Otto Armleder, I’ve been on staff with Cru, and I’ve taught positive culture building skills with Perfect 10 Corporate Cultures. I married Jeremy in 2008, a Cincinnati fireman who runs into fiery buildings for a living! Now I am a mom to Nick and Aubreigh. I love playing golf in my super cute golf shoes, playing pickleball with my family and exploring the country in our Skoolie!
Mark Simes has served as the Director of Ministry since 2016. He is responsible for the church’s finances, facilities, communications, volunteer ministry, and other administrative functions. At age 25 Mark decided to follow Jesus Christ and has been pursuing Jesus’ approach to all the dimensions of life: faith, family, friends, fitness, finances, fun, and vocation. Mark and Holly have been married for 29 years and have two adult sons who both live out of state. Last year Mark and Holly moved to a cute little house just two blocks from the church. Mark’s special interests are discipling men, running, all sports, home improvement projects, and reading books about God and leadership.
Paul “Raz” Rasmussen has been on staff at MC since 2010 and is over Worship, Youth and Young Adult Ministry. He has been married to Juli, for 33 years and has 3 adult sons and a giant Golden Retriever, named Peyton Manning (the Dog). Raz was born in Denver, CO, (go Broncos!) and has lived in 7 states. In addition to his family and music, he loves fly fishing and playing golf. One of his bucket list items is playing golf in every state…and is more than half-way to his goal at 28. With a music degree from Colorado University, he has produced albums and even sung background vocals on two shows for the top-40 band Foreigner! He has a passion to see worship leaders and musicians raised up that will bring glory to the Father.
Renee Brownfield has been on the church staff since 1994. She’s a home town girl who grew up in the small village of Fairfax, attended Mariemont Junior and Senior high school, and then went to Eastern Kentucky University where she received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Renee loves to spend time with her family, travel and attending sporting events. The creativity of the staff is the biggest reason why she enjoys serving with the church.
Jamie joined our staff in 2019. He has degrees in Music, Worship, and Theology, completing his PhD dissertation on the theology of A. W. Tozer in 2019. In 2020, during the pandemic he wrote and published his first book titled Friendship with God.
I love the vision and mission of Mariemont Church. I was born and raised in the Cincinnati area, accepted Christ in my early twenties and have been a Jesus follower ever since. My desire is to use the gifts God has given me to serve others and further God’s Kingdom. After 33 years working in the engineering field, I wanted a career change and shared my heart’s desire with God. I hadn’t expected this would lead to a full time church position but was thrilled when He brought it all together in the most unexpected way. I’ve performed the operational side of church work in the past mostly part-time or voluntarily and really get energized by it. MC has a great team of staff and volunteers so I’m really excited to be part of it. I am married to the lovely Renee and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
