Four Key Questions

Fellow Pilgrims:

Last Sunday we began a new series in the book of Revelation. We learned that this is an apocalyptic letter offering a look “behind the veil” at the person of Jesus.

I’m looking forward to more deeply experiencing the hope God offers his people through the Revelation of Jesus with you.

I have sensed that rather than offer detailed application with each sermon, it might be more profitable for us to consider four major themes of Revelation and the key questions they spark.

I’m hoping that considering these things together over the entire time of the study will allow the Word to dwell in us richly and perhaps stimulate some deeper dialogue and life transformation in our families and small groups.

Here are the four key themes & questions:

1. God is sovereign, holy and totally authoritative.
Do I fear and trust him?

2. God has a plan and wins thoroughly.
Is he my true hope, peace and joy?
3. We have great reason to share this news with others.
Am I willing to be a priest, an agent of grace?

4. Jesus is focused on his eternal Kingdom.
Am I really living in light of eternity?

I’m looking forward to growing together with you in 2016 as we learn to live and love in Jesus in new and deeper ways together, Denis

Week Four: How is Jesus Coming?

I’m so thankful for the Scriptures. God has revealed Himself and his plans for us – giving us a treasure of truth and grace that we can rely on for knowing God, receiving salvation, and wisdom for living.

As we enter a time of growing rebellion and global calamity, it is so reassuring to know that God has spoken clearly about what to expect and how to navigate life as a follower of Jesus.

No topic in Scripture is more encouraging that what God has planned for those who love him as we approach the conclusion of history. I hope you are rejoicing in the details he has given us about his return.

Yesterday, I was able to share with a friend in a wheelchair and encourage him to hope in the return of Jesus and the righting of all things, including his body. It’s going to be glorious!

May your Christmas be blessed with hope!
Even so, Come Lord Jesus! Denis

Adventos Week Three: Why is Jesus Coming?

(Feedback appreciated on the new podcast)

Brothers and Sisters:

Jesus is so smart and strategic. He always has every possible angle covered, knows everything all the time and has a purpose for everything. Nothing surprises him or even occurs to him. He knows every why.

His purposes are always perfect, his goals are all good and he always achieves them. In Psalm 138, David confidently writes that God will achieve his purposes in the King’s life.

God will always meet his plan for us, as we trust him!

We can take comfort that the One directing us will achieve his “Why” for us, and as we follow him, we enter into the stream of his larger purposes.

He is able. He is good. He is willing.

So as we looked at the end of Revelation last week, we can know that Jesus will return and that he will accomplish his Word. It’s a sure thing. Every “Why” for his return will be accomplished.

He is coming soon to:
Complete our salvation
Convert the rest of the Jews
Crush Satan and evil
Command the earth as King
Condemn the ungodly
Create the new heavens & earth
Consummate history

That is the joy of advent. Come Lord Jesus! Denis
