MID-WEEK

Jesus is the Life that is truly life.

Let’s not accept anything other than the real thing!

Brothers and Sisters,

We’ve spent 10 weeks considering the wisdom given to us in the book of Proverbs. We’ve asked God to show us how to do life well.

Sunday, I shared revelation the Lord had given to me about the uniqueness and excellencies of Jesus found in Proverbs, starting with verse 30:4-

Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Whose hands have gathered up the wind?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and
What is the name of his son?
Tell me if you know!

As I traced through Proverbs, I saw a theme of life and of the ways to life. Three pictures stood out:

The path of life (2:19, 12:28, 15:24)
The fountain of life (10:11, 13:14, 14:27, 16:22)
The tree of life (3:18, 11:30, 13:12, 15:4)

I made the case that these are pictures of Jesus, fully revealed through the Gospels and the rest of the New Testament.

Let’s share his name and his Good News with all those we know, for the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Learning to live and love in Jesus with you,

Denis

MID-WEEK

We are wired for friendship with Jesus and with one another! The Gospel good news is that we can be God’s friend, by faith!

(Share your stories on Mariemont Church Families FB page.)

Brothers and Sisters,

I was challenged last week as I contemplated my friendship patterns and how well I observe the wisdom of Proverbs in my role as a friend.

I hope you were encouraged to seek out “Corner Four” friendships in this coming season!

Men, I especially want us to be aware of this opportunity, as our women tend to understand it much more vividly.

Speaking of opportunities, men, please email Rob Seetin about participating in this Saturday’s men’s event, come and start some new friendships!

(Rob’s email is rjseetin @ gmail.com)

May we continue to seek true friendship with Jesus, Denis

MID-WEEK

There is much to learn from the ant. God says the ant’s life of diligence will help us “see” and escape the fate of the sluggard.

Brothers and Sisters,

It was great to worship with you last Sunday – I loved singing and contemplating what a good father our great and gracious God really is!

Steve Cesler’s message on the sluggard – and his encouragement to be diligent like the ant instead – was challenging and motivating.

I loved Steve’s illustration about the journey of parenting from a ministry called JH Ranch and wanted to give you easy access to the resources he mentioned if you want to learn more:

May we continue to seek and speak wisdom together, to live and love in the wisdom of Jesus, Denis
