Church Vision According to Jesus

(Please turn in your vision response this coming Sunday, January 31st)

Friends

Last Sunday we studied Revelation chapters 2 & 3 and considered the vision the risen King Jesus has for his church.

Jesus is very particular about the vision and trajectory of every church in the world, MCC included!

In love, Jesus both encourages and critiques the churches in seven Asian cities – each of which yields important lessons for each believer and congregation.

Jesus highlights 7 traits he wants to see in his church:

– to love passionately
– to suffer well
– to be disciplined
– to persevere
– to be authentic
– to be faithful
– to be repenting

May these be true of MCC and each of us in increasing measure! As we pray about our vision and our vision response for 2016, may we be refreshed by this part of God’s word!

As we continue in Revelation, we are considering four themes and four key questions for personal application. Here they are:

1. God is sovereign, holy and totally authoritative.
Do I fear and trust him?

2. God has a plan and wins thoroughly.
Is he my true hope, peace and joy?

3. We have great reason to share this news with others.
Am I willing to be a priest, an agent of grace?

4. Jesus is focused on his eternal Kingdom.
Am I really living in light of eternity?

I’m looking forward to growing together with you in 2016 as we learn to live and love in Jesus in new and deeper ways together, Denis

MID-WEEK

Brothers and Sisters:

Last Sunday we finished Revelation chapter one and considered the vision Jesus gave John in verses 12-16. It’s a stunning vision!

In the midst of a display of the power and awe of King Jesus, we see a tremendous warmth and care as Jesus reaches down and touches John, telling him not to be afraid.

He is “for” John. He is “for” you and me.

To those who trust him, Jesus is King, Master, Almighty. But he is also friend and brother – the lover of our souls.

Let’s continue to dwell in the true Jesus as he has revealed himself. Let us strip away the things we have assumed and seek the truth and grace of our King Jesus together.

As we go through Revelation, we are considering four themes and four key questions for personal application. Here they are:

1. God is sovereign, holy and totally authoritative.
Do I fear and trust him?

Four Key Questions

Fellow Pilgrims:

Last Sunday we began a new series in the book of Revelation. We learned that this is an apocalyptic letter offering a look “behind the veil” at the person of Jesus.

I’m looking forward to more deeply experiencing the hope God offers his people through the Revelation of Jesus with you.

I have sensed that rather than offer detailed application with each sermon, it might be more profitable for us to consider four major themes of Revelation and the key questions they spark.

I’m hoping that considering these things together over the entire time of the study will allow the Word to dwell in us richly and perhaps stimulate some deeper dialogue and life transformation in our families and small groups.

Here are the four key themes & questions:

The Way

Vision Sunday 2016

(Happy New Year!)

Brothers and Sisters:

Last Sunday we refreshed our congregation vision and committed ourselves and the New Year to the Lord.

If you missed, please get a CD or listen to the podcast and also pick up an updated copy of “The Way” at the welcome desk!

We are asking everyone to prayerfully consider their response to the Vision in 2016 by filling in the response sheet in the center of the booklet.

Please return your response by Sunday January 31 – all responses will be kept in confidence, but will allow our leadership team to make better decisions with your aggregate responses!

May the Father bless you in 2016, Denis

Week Five: What is Jesus Coming With?

(Happy New Year!)

Brothers and Sisters:

Jesus is forever. As we learned in Psalm 110, Jesus is our forever priest-king-prophet-warrior.

He does all.

What a privilege to know, serve and wait for  him. What a confidence builder to have him living inside of us.He knows all.

The future is in his hands. What a great comfort to know he is loyal and humble.

He is all.

Jesus is the joy of advent: Even so, Come Lord Jesus!

May Jesus fill your 2016 and your forever, Denis
