Beware False Teachers & Prophets

Beloved Church!
I am on vacation this week, so I am writing this email ahead of time. Instead of the usual recap from Sunday, I just wanted to leave you with a thought about our wonderful Heavenly Father.

He always gives his very best – he gave us his beloved Son Jesus, he has given us his Word – his promises, his warnings, his wisdom.

He knew we would be bombarded with lies too! So he gave us Holy Spirit, God in us, so that we could have everything we need for a life in Jesus – and a life in truth. He is so good.

Being such a good Father, he pours out grace and mercy on us when we approach his throne of grace. We can go there boldly in our time of need and KNOW we will be met there! (Hebrews 4:16)

So remember – it’s not how you start that matters most – it’s how you finish. Another way to think about this is something a pastor friend mentioned to his flock last week: God is less concerned with your mis-step than he is with your next step.

So let’s step boldly into this moment and this week!

Living and Loving in Jesus with you, Denis

Friends,

I believe God really visited us Sunday. I felt it in the time we opened up the Word. I saw it in the community prayer time. I heard it in the worship response. We brought our needs and struggles to God!

It’s the nature of grace that when we seek Jesus with all our hearts, he makes himself known to us. He speaks. He tells us the great things we don’t know. He forgives. He empowers us to trust and obey.

We looked at the difference between “bounded set” and “centered set” thinking as it pertains to Grace. The parable of the prodigal God from Luke 15 is such a great illustration.

We need to beware focusing on our location and instead look at our trajectory. Are we moving toward God in surrender, or are we resisting God as he calls?

Here is the link to last Sunday’s message:

God can make us pure – if we will embrace grace!

Read and meditate on 2 Corinthians 12 for a deeper encounter with God and the sufficiency of his grace in your life.

It’s a joy to learn to live and love in Jesus with you, Denis

Beloved Church!

In these past few weeks, we have been challenged with the revolutionary teaching of Jesus – it’s been at once refreshing and deeply challenging.

This week’s command – as Jesus unpacks it – turns out to have some very significant implications. Here’s the video link:

Jesus is unfolding a very exciting vision for relationships and purity in his church. How do we live as brothers and sisters, married and single, caring for and loving one another?

How do we build a community where each person has a clear Kingdom purpose and is effectively using their gifts?

How do we encourage relationships that are rich and emotionally intimate, but also fully obedient to the loving limits of our Creator and Savior?

How do we fully experience God’s grace as we repent, confess, and align our expectations to his vision and not that of the world?

The key is grace.

Grace is the unmerited favor of God, the power of God to obey! Grace is released to us by believing the Gospel message, and receiving the promised Holy Spirit. It all happens through faith.

Let’s pray for one another this week, lifting each one of our brothers and sisters. Ask for more faith – to trust and obey.

Love in Jesus, Denis
