Power in Prayer

Jesus makes this amazing promise in John 15:7 – “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.”
Are you hungry for a prayer life like that?

The past 40 days, we have prayed together in covenant for an awakening to Jesus. The testimonies of answered prayer are growing and so are we! Each Wednesday, Jerry Kirk has been teaching on the prayer covenant and Raz has led us in worship. It’s been a really rich time together. Jerry’s final session is Wednesday 2/26 from 7-8:45 PM in the Parish Center. Childcare will be provided.

I would love to have the whole church come to be blessed and to worship and pray together with Jerry as we get ready to start the SHAPING journey together.

In Jesus,

Staying Dusty

Jesus is always inviting. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men” (Mark 1:17). We have been exploring what it is to follow Jesus on the “Dusty Road”.

Scripture, prayer and abiding.
Grace, mercy, love, discipline and obedience.
Unity. Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Fruitfulness as we invite others to follow Jesus with us. Amazing, eh?

We are invited into an adventure with Jesus. We are inviting Jesus to change us any way he wants. We are inviting others to join us as we follow Jesus together.

May we “stay dusty” as we become fishers of men together,

Remain in the Rabbi

One of the most important moments of my life was when I realized that the substitution of death made for me on the cross by Jesus was not the whole Gospel. He also substitutes His life for mine every day. He promises to live in me, along with the Father and the Spirit. They in me and I in them. Eternal life now as I remain in Him.

This is why we say “Living and Loving in Jesus” around here.
Not like Jesus. Not for Jesus. Not with Jesus.

The mercy and grace of God is available every time I find myself in sin. Whether it’s a new sin I’ve just realized by understanding His Word or an old foe. As we repent, confess, and forsake that sin, Jesus applies His death again. In place of our sin is cleansing righteousness. He also fills our life anew with His life, His Spirit. Wow! At that moment we abide in him. He simply asks us to stay there. This is simple, but not easy. It takes discipline!

So the Gospel is the death of Jesus for us and it is the resurrection life of Jesus for us. Every day. All day. Repentance brings mercy and grace which fuels more dependency and more repentance. Gradually we become like Him, little by little. Like in Exodus 23:30, we take possession of our promise, growing in our character and our ability to carry Father, Son, and Spirit in our “clay jar temples”. See 2 Corinthians 4:7-11.

Remaining in the Rabbi with you, by His grace,

Unfailing Love

Oh the amazing joy to realize that God in His great love sent Jesus to stand in my place so that I do not have to be an object of wrath forever.  The waves of relief on that evening in March of 1996 in Hong Kong were overwhelming. I was filled with joy! The trajectory of my life was changed forever! …. Who is like you Lord?

This question captured me and still does. Every time I read His precious Word, I am awakened to how immense and how endless is His great love for me and that He died for me while I was still a sinner opposed to God. The Gospel is good news to me every day. Every day I realize that my sin and failure was covered at Calvary. Every time I confess and turn from my sin, I am forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness.

Is the gospel meaningful for you every day? It is available every day!This morning I was awakened early and read this:
Psalm 36:7-9
7 How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men
find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light. NIVI take refuge in the wings of my Savior. I am forgiven. I feast on Him and drink from His river of delights. Oh beloved – does it get any better? Let us go to the light every day, let us bathe in the fountain of life – the only life that is truly life!Living and loving in Jesus with you,
